A short video: online PR is all about community

Here’s a short video from the nice folks at RealWire that helps explain the key differences between traditional and online public relations. The cheese on toast mention made me laugh, and getting the beers in is always a nice analogy to use. The key takeaway from the video is if you want gain influence online you should focus on:

  1. Listening
  2. Becoming accepted by the community you are trying to reach, on their terms
  3. Providing relevant and quality content (not cheese on toast!)
  4. Engaging people in genuine conversations
  5. Building relationships
  6. Good sound advice.
